Blackmail Plot Allegation: Paul Pogba Tells Police about Hostage Situation with Assailant Gang
Reports claim that Paul Pogba, the renowned footballer from Juventus and France, informed French authorities about an incident in March this year. He alleged that a group held him hostage in a Paris apartment and demanded £11m, brandishing assault rifles as part of a blackmail scheme.
The 29-year-old, who previously played for Manchester United and contributed to France’s World Cup victory, accused the men of being orchestrated by his elder brother, Mathias Pogba.
Pogba disclosed that his brother and the gang demanded payment for “protection services” dating back 13 years, including during his time in Manchester.
Allegedly, the armed men asserted that they had discreetly protected Pogba during a ten-year period, including his stints at Manchester United, the latest ending in June 2022.
On August 28, the French Justice system confirmed the initiation of an investigation for “attempted extortion in an organized gang.”
A source close to the case revealed that Pogba’s brother and childhood acquaintances are implicated as suspects.
This revelation follows a cryptic Twitter video from Mathias, who hinted at exposing significant information about Paul Pogba soon after joining the platform on Saturday night, making headlines.
He expressed, “The French, English, Italian and Spanish public – in other words, the whole world – as well as my brother’s fans, and even more so the French team and Juventus, my brother’s team-mates and his sponsors deserve to know certain things.”
Mathias questioned whether his brother deserved admiration, respect, and love from the public, a place in the French team and the honor of playing in the World Cup, and if he is a trustworthy individual.
Subsequently, Mathias refuted claims of orchestrating a blackmail plot against his brother and made controversial allegations on Twitter.
He wrote, “Paul, you really wanted to shut me up completely to lie and send me to prison, I suspected it now it’s true, my version of the facts happens and unlike you.”
Mathias also made references to Kylian Mbappe, Pogba’s teammate, and accused Pogba of involvement in “witchcraft.”
Paul Pogba, born and raised in Lagny-sur-Marne to Guinean parents along with his brothers – Mathias and Florentin, who also pursue professional football, faced a distressing situation, as disclosed by a Paris judicial source to Franceinfo news outlet.
The source stated, “Investigators from the Central Office of Judicial Police Combating Organised Crime revealed that he was trapped by childhood friends, and two hooded men armed with assault rifles.”
Pogba reported that the perpetrators demanded €13m, equivalent to £11m, and had been intimidating him for four months.
Intimidation incidents were reportedly carried out in Manchester and later in Turin, where he currently represents Juventus.
According to reports, the gang brought Pogba to an apartment in the Paris suburb of Lagny-sur-Marne and accused him of not financially assisting them since he became a professional athlete.
During police interrogations, Paul Pogba expressed his prior willingness to support his childhood friends financially, only to evict one from his house in Manchester in January after discovering the misuse of his credit card to steal €200,000 (£170,000).
