BIOGRAPHY
After wanting to be a priest then an engineer, Roger Carel headed towards the profession of actor, attending the Simon course then alternating cabaret and theater plays. The turning point in his career came in 1959, when he was asked to voice the character of Peter Lorre in The Beauty of Moscow . At this stage, Roger Carel probably does not know that he will become the most famous voice actor in France. His career was divided between this successful activity and work as a supporting role on the big screen, as a radio and theater man.

Roger Carel’s mischievous tone of voice quickly specialized him in dubbing cartoons, especially since he easily managed to create different characters simply through his vocal prowess. He accompanies the imagination of many children by being the voice of Asterix for almost four decades, from Asterix, the Gaul (1967) to the very recent Asterix and the Vikings (2006). He also voiced a lot for Disney (voice of Jiminy Cricket in Pinocchio , Pongo in 101 Dalmatians , Kaa in The Jungle Book ,…), but also for other major studios such as Warner Bros. or Hanna Barbera .

His vocal talent is such that he can dub several characters for the same program (he is both the unique voice of Winnie the Pooh, but also that of his comrades Piglet and Coco Rabbit) and that the cinema and the small screen appeal to him. Do you remember the extra-terrestrial Alf , the robot C-3PO from the Star Wars saga ? From Kermit the Frog or the delusional Benny Hill ? Roger Carel is the unforgettable French voice of all these characters, and many others…

Alongside this status as a recognized voice actor which establishes him in the collective imagination, Roger Carel has a rich career as an actor, both on stage, on the airwaves, on television (Inspector Gerchard in the series Arsène Lupine ) and in the cinema, where he is a popular supporting role. A peasant in Le Triporteur (1957), he is Victor in Le Viil homme et l’enfant (1967) and is notably featured in the credits of On a Flee the Thigh of Jupiter (1980), of Coup du Umbrella (id.) or even Papy fait de la resistance (1983), where he plays General Muller.
