Mzbel Opens Up About Her Decision to Bleach

Ghanaian artist Mzbel recently shared that her decision to bleach her skin stemmed from her belief that she was ugly and that being black meant being dirty.

After suffering from severe side effects as a result of her self-hate, Mzbel sought help and has now embraced her identity as a beautiful black woman.

She reflected on her journey, stating:

“I used to think I was ugly, I thought being black is dirty, so I took to skin bleaching and suffered horrible side effects years later. But that is the result of self-hate. I shared my story and got help, now I’ve learned to say: “You know what? I am a beautiful black woman”
