Kacey Lee Musgraves was born on August 21, 1988 in Mineola, a town in Wood County, Texas. She comes from a family of four that includes her father, Craig Musgrave (a business owner) and her mother, Karen Musgraves (an artist). The singer also has a younger sister named Kelly Christine Sutton (née Musgraves).
The Musgraves’ musical talent was evident from an early age. She therefore learned to play the guitar and performed at various local venues. One of those places was the local theater where she became very popular. Kacey Musgraves graduated from high school (Mineola High School) in 2006 and dedicated himself to making music. She produced and marketed her own demo tapes and landed her first record deal in 2008. She recorded acoustic covers of songs by One Republic (Apologize) and Miley Cyrus (See You Again) under the Triple Pop label.

Musgraves and her husband first met in March 2016 at a coffee shop in Nashville. She was there to listen to some music while he was being billed for performances. She was intrigued by his performance and approached him after the show. They exchanged contacts and agreed on a songwriting date. Despite the first move, Musgraves was reluctant to go on the date due to her recent breakup with longtime boyfriend/band member Misa Arriaga. She eventually agreed to a date with Kelly and the rest is history.
They started dating in May 2016 and got engaged on Christmas Eve that same year. Musgraves and her love tied the knot on October 14, 2017. The heartwarming ceremony took place in Tennessee.
