Dead Island Riptide Ending

As the game draws to a close, growling can be heard emanating from inside the boat, and the doorknob to the hold is turned open from within before the game comes to an abrupt end. The ultimate outcomes for the immune character and the five other survivors remain uncertain. Prior to this, the immune and their companions come across a boat, where they encounter Serpo once again. He openly confesses to engineering the viral outbreaks but proposes to provide the immune with medical aid in exchange for accompanying him. The immune decides to abandon Serpo to the zombies and escape the island with their five fellow survivors. After six days, their boat washes ashore on another island that appears to be deserted.

Dead Island Riptide Review

Dead Island: Riptide was met with mixed reviews, with some critics applauding the new setting and gameplay while pointing out the numerous unresolved issues that plagued the original game and the dearth of innovative content. On Metacritic, a review aggregator website, the PlayStation 3 version received a score of 62/100, the PC version received 61/100, and the Xbox 360 version received 57/100.

Greg Miller of IGN praised the game's gameplay and co-op mode, and its ability to import saved data from the original game, which ensured that enemies remained proportional to the player's level. However, Miller noted that the game's storyline and visuals were subpar, and it failed to address most of the issues that plagued its predecessor. Despite its shortcomings, Miller rated the game 7.2 out of 10.

On the other hand, Mark Walton of GameSpot was highly critical of Dead Island: Riptide. He described the game as a frustrating mess of repetitive combat and half-baked ideas, despite its initial promise. Walton awarded the game a dismal score of 4 out of 10. 

When Did Dead Island Riptide Come Out?

In 2019, the responsibility for the development of Dead Island 2 was transferred once again to Dambuster Studios, an internal studio of Deep Silver. As of April 21, 2023, the game is slated for release. In this game, Riptide is set right after the conclusion of Dead Island, featuring the four immune survivors - ex-American footballer Logan Carter, rapper Sam B, undercover Chinese spy Xian Mei, and former Australian police officer Purna Jackson. In addition to them, the game also includes international terrorists Charon and Yerema, a native who is the asymptomatic patient zero of the Banoi outbreak. The group manages to flee from the prison island and lands on a military ship.
